Southern Dominion Health System's Chief Executive Officer, Mary Ruth Turner, is a native of Wichita, KS and the daughter of Rev. Shadrach and Rosie Smith. Dr. Turner received a direct commission as a Finance and Accounting Officer in the United States Army. Previous employment includes, Territorial Auditor, Sears Regional Headquarters, Alhambra, CA; Chief Financial Officer, Memorial Health Center, Sidney, NE; Auditor, Office of Inspector General, Dept. of Interior, Washington, D.C.; and Accountant/Auditor, Myers & Stauffer's CPA Firm, Topeka, KS.

Her education includes undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Psychology from Sacramento City College and Wichita State University; Masters Degree in Management from Pepperdine University, Los Angeles, CA, and a Doctorate Degree in Sacred Theology from Inter-Denominational Bible Institute, Lawrenceville, VA.

Dr. Turner stated, "I am dedicated to the cause of defining and improving human conditions, whether health-related, medical, oral, behavioral, financial, or spiritual. I assist individuals and communities in their efforts to understand the past, confront important issues in the present, and shape a promising future."
