What is the
RxRelief Virginia Medication Assistance Program?
RxRelief Virginia helps Virginians without prescription insurance
coverage obtain the medications they need, free-of-charge. RxRelief Virginia
is an initiative of the Virginia Health Care Foundation working to develop
health care solutions for patients. Southern Dominion Health System, Inc.
has been awarded a RxRelief Virginia grant making it possible to obtain a
Medication Assistance Caseworker to administer this program throughout the
four counties it serves.
How does the program work?
1. The
staff at your Provider's office will assist you in completion of the
application for the program.
2. This application is forwarded to the RxRelief Caseworker, along with
required financial documentation.
3. The Caseworker will submit the requests to the appropriate pharmaceutical
manufacturer.
4. in 6-12 weeks, the pharmaceutical company mails your prescription
medication to your Provider.
5. You will be notified that your prescription medication is ready for pick
up.
6. After the initial application for your medication, refill and new
prescription requests will be quickly completed.
How do I know if
I am eligible for the RxRelief medication assistance program?
If you can answer "yes" to the following questions, you may be a candidate
for this program:
-Have
you ever been diagnosed with a chronic illness?
-Do
you have difficulty affording prescription medications?
-Do
you NOT have any type of prescription coverage through an
insurance company?
-Each
year does your family earn approximately:
-$20,000
for a family of 1;
-$27,000
for a family of 2;
-$34,000
for a family of 3;
-$40,000
for a family of 4; or
-$44,000
for a family of 5.
-Have
you been denied Medicaid benefits?
What are my
responsibilities as a participant?
Our requests to the pharmaceutical manufacturers can only be
successful with your cooperation. you will be responsible for completing the
following:
- Providing your Provider's office
and the RxRelief Caseworker with all documentation requested as quickly as
possible.
- Providing accurate and
up-to-date financial and personal information and notifying the Provider's
office or the RxRelief Caseworker with any changes to this information.
- Completing satisfaction surveys
to provide us with necessary feedback that will strengthen the support the
program provides.
- Picking up your prescription
medication within 5 business days of receiving notification that your
medication is available.
