Meet the Staff: The dental clinic staff consists of Dr. Calysta Beatty, Kitty Elsaesser (Dental Assistant), Lindsie Story (Dental Hygienist), and Allyce Spencer (Dental Office Coordinator). Dr. Beatty, a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Kitty Elsaesser has been a dental assistant for more than thirty years and is a proud resident of Lunenburg County.
The dental clinic is housed in the old Lunenburg Medical Center building across the street from the new center. The office features state of the art dental equipment including a portable handheld x-ray unit with digital imaging to help with patient comfort and digital patient records. There are three operatories, one for dental hygiene and two for dental procedures. What exactly does a dental hygienist do? Dental hygienists remove soft and hard deposits from teeth,
teach patients how to practice good oral hygiene, and provide other preventive
dental care. They examine patients' teeth and gums, recording the presence of
diseases and abnormalities. Who is eligible for services at the dental clinic? Everyone! There are many residents living in Lunenburg County and surrounding areas in need of dental care. SDHS Family Dentistry accepts all dental insurance including Medicaid and also offers a sliding fee scale for those individuals without insurance. Is there an age limit for dental services?
